About

I’ve worked as an NHS hospital midwife for about 8 years. I’m not at the end of my tether – barring terrible events I think my tether could have another decade to go, maybe more. But I’m not glowingly in awe of the joys of my job either. I’m surviving somewhere inbetween.

This is a blog about some of the small pissy details of midwifery – it will hopefully explain a little about how the whole world of maternity works – and why sometimes it isn’t ideal.

Note that none of the people I write about exist exactly as presented. The only ethical way of publicly bitching on in this way is if I amalgamate and obsfuscate the women and members of staff. But I promise you it’s only a tiny bit shifted from reality. In some senses – every word is true…
